Q
AP Ankle centring
A
Centre midway between the medial and lateral malleoli at the level of the malleoli
3
Q
How to position for AP ankle
A
- Pt laying on table, with legs extended
- Heel in contact with the imaging plate
- Dorsiflex the ankle
- The lateral malleolus will be 15deg more posterior than the medial malleolus
4
Q
AP ankle Criteria
A
- Tibiotalar joint space open
- Medial aspect of mortise joint
free of superimposition
5
Q
AP Mortise Oblique Ankle centring
A
Center midway between the medial and lateral malleoli. At the level of the malleoli
6
Q
AP Mortise Oblique Ankle position
A
- Pt laying on table, with legs extended
- Heel in contact with the imaging plate
- Dorsiflex the ankle
- From the AP position roll the foot and ankle 15-20deg internally
- The medial and lateral malleolus are equidistant from the imaging plate
7
Q
AP Mortise Oblique Ankle criteria
A
- Entire mortise joint in profile
- Lateral and medial talarmalleolar joint free of overlap
8
Q
lateral ankle centring
A
Center over medial malleolus
9
Q
lateral ankle position
A
- Pt laying on table, with legs extended
- Roll Pt laterally onto affected side
- Dorsiflex the foot
- Medial and lateral malleolus superimposed
- Toes/Foot raised 15deg onto a wedge sponge

Q
45 Degree Oblique Ankle
A
- Pt laying on table, with legs extended
- Heel in contact with the imaging plate
- Dorsiflex the ankle
- From the AP position roll the foot and ankle 45degrees internally
- The medial and lateral malleolus are equidistant from the imaging plate
