Animal tissues short 1 Flashcards
What are the types of connective tissue?
1] Blood
2] Bone
3] Ligament
4] Cartilage
5] Areolar connective tissue
6] Fat-storing adipose tissue
7] Tendons
What are tendons?
Tendons connect muscles to bones and are fibrous tissue with great strength but limited flexibility.
What is Areolar connective tissue?
Areolar connective tissue fills the space inside the organs, supports internal organs and helps in repair of tissues. It is found between the skin and muscles, around blood vessels and nerves and in the bone marrow.
What is Fat storing adipose tissue?
Fat storing adipose tissue is found below the skin and between internal organs. The cells of this tissue are filled with fat globules. Storage of fats also lets it act as an insulator.
What are Cardiac muscles?
The muscles of the heart show rhythmic contraction and relaxation throughout life. These involuntary muscles are called cardiac muscle. Cardiac muscle cells are cylindrical, branched and uninucleate.
What is uninucleate?
Having a single nucleus.
What is a Nerve?
Many Nerves bound together by connective tissue make up a nerve.
What is a Nerve impaulse?
The signal that passes along the nerve fiber is called a nerve impulse. Nerve impulses allow us to move our muscles when we want to.
