Communism
A system of social organisation in which all property is owned by the community and each person contributes and receives according to their ability and needs.
Allusion
An expression or phrase that refers to a well known story or idea without naming it explicitly.
Comrade
A fellow member of an organisation. Typically linked to the armed forces, socialism and communism.
Archetype
Typical of a person or thing.
Anthropomorphism
The attribution of human characteristics or behaviours to an animal or an object.
Zoomorphism
Animal attributes are imposed upon non-animal objects such as humans and gods.
Caricature
A picture, description, or imitation of a person in which striking characteristics are exaggerated in order to create a comic or grotesque effect.
Parallelism
A literary device in which parts of a sentence are grammatically the same in construction.
Scapegoat
A person who is blamed for the mistakes, or faults, of others.
Impose
To force (an unwelcome decision or ruling etc.) on someone.
Dictatorship
A society with a ruler who has total power over everything and everyone - typically by force.
Tyranny
Cruel, unreasonable and oppressive use of power and control.
Allegory
A narrative that contains a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one.
Satire
The use of humor, exaggeration, ridicule or irony to expose and criticise stupidity - usually political or topical issues.
Totalitarianism
A government that requires complete subservience.
