a group of hormone secreting glands

a ‘master gland’ attached to the brain which secretes many hormones which tell our body what to do or tell other glands to release their hormones

A
a gland in our neck which releases thyroxine, which regulates the rate of metabolism, and plays a roll in growth and development

an example of how the pituitary gland works using thyroxine
A
if the pituitary gland detects low levels of thyroxine, it releases TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) which stimulates the thyroid to make more thyroxine
