The stems and roots of potatoes, onions and strawberries
Most important eelworm in Irish agriculture?
Potato eelworm. Feeds on the roots of the potato plant, which causes stunted growth and small tubers. Crop rotation helps to prevent this.

Stage 1
Female roundworms lay eggs that pass in the cows faeces

Larvae develop and hatch from the egg

The larvae go through two more stages of development . They can now infect cattle

Stage 4
The larvae attach themselves to grass that the cows eat. They mature in the intestines of the cow and reproduce.
