Q

How did the sloth adapt

A

They have adapted to the ecosystem in many ways. Two toed sloths are nocturnal which allows them to avoid diurnal (or active during the day) predators by sleeping during the day. Although three toed sloths are diurnal and nocturnal they are mainly inactive during the day. Sloths are built for life in the trees because their arms are longer than their legs and their feet are curved which helps them grasp branches. They also move very slowly allowing them to not be seen.

Q

Hoe did the spider monkey adapt

A

The main physical adaption is its prehensile tail. Those allows it to grasp the branches of trees. The prehensike tail is longer than its body and composed of 23 vertebra. This gives it suppleness and strength. The monkey can hang, swing, pick fruit and throw things using its tail. They have a highly developed larynx allowing them to produce various vocal sounds they use these to communicate through the trees as they are sociable.

Q

How did the jaguar adapt

A

Jaguars are excellent swimmers unlike most cats. They seek water for bathing and swimming. The fur keeps it camouflaged and they are also very powerful giving them strength to slowly and silently move through the rainforest. They are also very fast and have large claws for climbing
