What is treason?

Actions that don’t match up to society’s views on decent behaviour e.g. adultery
What is Petty Theft?
Stealing small, low value items

The death penalty

Punishments that cause harm or pain to the body

Matching the punishment to the severity of the crime
What is Deterrent?
A frightening or painful punishment meant to put others off committing the same crime

Harming a criminal
What is Collective Responsibility?
Being responsible for the actions of others in your group/village

Shouting until the whole village comes to the scene of the crime

A local official

Swearing under oath you are innocent

An official appointed by the king to enforce the law through the shire
