Q

How significant is this blood loss (in %) for this size of dog? What should you do?
How significant is 33-39 mls?

A

Dogs blood volume is 80-90 mls/kg x 5.5 kg = 440 -495 mls.

Q

b.)How significant is this blood loss (in %) for this size of dog?

A

How significant is 170 mls?
Dogs blood volume is 80-90 mls/kg x 21 kg = 1680 - 1890 mls
<><>
10% = 168-189 mls
20% = 336 – 378 mls
30% = 504 – 567 mls
40% = 672 – 756 mls
<><>
170 mls/ 1680 – 1890 x 100 = 10% - 9% loss

Q

Throughout most of the surgery, the anesthetic plane had been stable with normal ranges of cardiorespiratory parameters. Now over the last 5-8 min various changes have occurred.
<><>
The HR is 100 beats/min, Doppler reading = 50 mmHg, ETCO2 has reduced from 52 mmHg to now 26 mmHg, RR is unchanged in rate= 8 breaths/min and depth of breathing is unchanged, temperature=36.5 C.

170 mls/ 1680 – 1890 x 100 = 10% - 9% loss
<><>
Outline your fluid plan for this amount of blood loss in regards to; fluid type, volume required, rate of administration, and time to administer.
