anesthesia machine Flashcards
high pressure system
Cylinder/tanks
hanger yoke and check valves
intermediate pressure system
pipeline sources
cylinder pressure regulators
O2 flush valve
flowmeter control Knobs
O2 pressure failure device (O2 pressure sensor shutoff valve, fail-safe)
second stage regulator (not in all machines)
pneumatic part of master switch?
Low pressure system
- flowmeter tubes
- Proportioning Link System
- one way valve: outlet check valve
- pressure relief devices
- common gas outlet
- vaporizers
- **pressure is slightly above atm pressure
O2 pressure sensor shut-off valve
safety valve located downstream form N2O supply
shuts off turns down N2O when a direct eased O2 Pressure is detected
*Only detects pressure
*2 types: threshold and proportioning
Threshold: when the psi of O2 isn’t enough to push up the diaphragm, it comes down pulling the piston and valve with it (1, 27)
Pipeline pressure
cylinder pressure
50 for all
O2: 2200psi, N2O: 745psi
*cylinder are down regulated to 45psi, this is on purpose so if the cylinder is not closed then machine will automatically take from the pipeline bc of the higher pressure
for O2 cylinders volume
decreased pressure is directly proportionate to volume
how many minutes left in tank?
xL in tank/ LperMin
Pressure regulators
reduce cylinder pressure 2200psi–45psi
flowmeters
measure gas flow to common gas outlet
O2 Knob different texture, sticks out, larger diameter
**O2 flowmeter positioned downstream from Nitrous….prevent hypoxic mixture if leak, but not fail proof.
color/PISS safety
N20 blue 3,5
Air yellow 1,5
O2 green 2,5
O2 flush
flow 35-75L/min
goes to machine outlet and pt circuit
Proportioning link system
N2O and O2 are hooked together, can’t make an hypoxic mix, prevent FiO2 from being less that 25%, if try to turn O2 off with N2O on…will turn down N2O
*must keep FiO2 at 28%
Anesthesia Machine Check…checking
- gas line connection
- Vent check
- flow meter controls
- Vaporizer level
- O2 analyzers
- Low pressure circuit leak test
- Circle system test
- Workstation self test
Low Pressure Circuit test
checks integrity of machine from flow control valve to common gas outlet
*components here most vulnerable to breakage
1993 FDA Neg-Pressure Leak test
preformed using suction bulb to common gas outlet, squeeze bulb, stays compressed…leak free
