Anemia pathophysiology
A
Kidney (EPO) -> bone (Erythopoiesis)-> RBC. Anemia -> underproduction of RBC or Destruction of RBC
Underproduction - Renal failure, Bone tumor or scarring, damaged erythroblasts, problem with hemoglobin production. Lab testing - immature RBC or Destruction- Reticulocytes <3%
Destruction - Immune system attack, Bacteria / Viral attack, Bleeding. Lab testing - Immature RBC - Reticulocyte >3%
