Why do you the monsson is important to people in South Asia?
The rains are needed for the farmers to grow crops and the economy is closley tied to the monsoon season.
Why do you think that much of the population of India lived in villages on the Indo-Ganges Plain?
The land is good for growing crops and people can live on the foood they grow.
Why is the Indo-Ganges plain a good place for farming?
Rivers carry water and silt into farmlands to irriagte and enrich the fields. Monsoons caused flooding which keeps the soil rich.
Decribe the Deccan Plateau.
It has a dry climate and irrigation is needed for farming. The northwest is made up of lava flows that produce rich black soil, cotton crops thrive in that region.
How do natural resources influence what is produced in SOuth Asia.
- Rich soil enables farmers to produce peanuts and other food crops.
- Cotton is used and used to manufacture clothing.
- Islands produce tea, coconuts, and rubber for manufactor
- Fishing is a major industry in South Asia
WHy does it seem that people of the Indus-River Valley have religios beliefs?
Archeologists have found statues that might be gods amoung the ruins of the Indus-River Valley.
What do the remains found at Mohenjo-Daro tell us about city planning in this ancient civilization?
- complex architecture and city planning
- a system of weights and measures to constuct buildings and roads
- homes were build on an grid system
- they had latge public baths and garbage systems
Why do scientists believe that the Harappan civilization waas destroyed by a natural disaster?
Natural disasters happen frequently in the Harppan Valley and it disappered suddenly.
What problems did the Vedas solve for archeologists?
The Aryans waged many wars amoung their groups/ tribes. The Vedas were full of Aryan songs, stories, and poems about their culture.
What was the main job of the rajah?
The rajah was a priest leader of a group.
