What is the Rosetta stone used for?
it translated Egyptian to Demotic and Ancient Greek
What is Egyptian Mummification?
it was the process of the dead being mummified and they could continue into the afterlife
How did the Mummification process begin?
it began by cutting the abdomen to remove organs for canopic jars
What are canopic jars? And what are in them?
They are jars that have gods heads on the tops of them and inside for them there are the stomach, lungs intestines, and the liver
What is the second step in the mummification process?
it is the removal of the brain with a hot poker stick through the nose.
What organ is left alone? And why?
The heart was left alone because it would be weighed by Abnubis?
Who is Anubis?
He is the god of death, judgement, and the underworld
How long did the process take?
took about 70 days
What was the body filled with after the process?
it was filled with resin and natron salt
What happens after the organs are removed?
after the organs were removed the eye sockets were plugged, the tombs were adorned with things that the dead would ‘need in the after life’. such as organs, workers, food, gold, etc.
How was the body dealt with?
the body was dried in the sun sometimes, wrapped, and then adorned with Amulets carved form stone metal and represented the person’s wealth
What happens in the tomb?
They placed ushabits in the tomb and they were small figurines placed in tombs to be worked in the after life for the mummies
