Define the Shi
The shi were the highest class in ancient China beneath the imperial family, consisting of Nobles and officials. They led a very privileged lifestyle.
Define the Nong
The Nong were the second highest class of Ancient society. Consisting of farmers who were very respected for their work
Define the gong
The gong were the third class in ancient Chinese society, consisting of artisans and craftspeople, who were well regarded for their skills
Define the Shang
The Shang were the lowest class in Ancient Chinese society, consisting of merchants who were wealthy but were considered to be people who didn’t contribute
Describe Standardisation
Standardisation was a system Qin created in the Qin dynasty. He wanted all of China to all have the same weights and measurements, the same system of money, the same written language and the same laws.
What is Legalism
Legalism in ancient China was a philosophical belief that human beings are inclined to do wrong instead of right. They believed that only way to make sure there was peace in China was through harsh laws and brutal punishments. Because people couldn’t be trusted to do the right thing if legalism wasn’t inforced.
Describe the Great Wall of China
The Great Wall of China was built by various states during the Spring, Autumn and The Warring States Period. It was built to protects Qin’S newly founded dynasty from invaders.
Describe the Burning of the Books
Ain burned what he called useless books. If a book wasn’t about agriculture, medicine or prophecy it was burned. Scholars who refused to have their books burned were either burned alive or sent to the wall. Qin did not want people wasting time and wanted nearly everyone to grow food
What did Confucius teach about relationships
Confucius taught about 5 main relationships
.kindness in the father and obedient devotion in the son
.gentility in the eldest brother and respect youngest brother
.righteous behaviour in the husband and obedience in the wife
.human consideration in elders and deference in juniors
.fairness from ministers and loyalty from subjects
What did Confucius teach about leaderships
He taught that you must rule wisely and fairly
That you must think…than act, decisively
And that you must be virtuous
