anatomy - Skeletal and Muscles Flashcards
What are the 2 regions of skeletal system
axial and Appenduicular
what is the axial region
Skull, Neck and trunk
What is the appenducular region
limbs, pectoral and Pelvic gridle
what are the type of bone structures
compact and spongy
what are the types of bone shapes
long, short, flat, irregular and sesamoid
What are muscles
consist of contractile cells and produce the movement of various parts of the body by contractions
What are the types of muscles
Skeletal, Cardiac and Smooth
What are Skeletal Muscles
voluntary and striated muscles that function in movement of the body, generate body heat and maintain body posture
what are the 2 attachments of skeletal muscles
origin and insertion
What does the origin of skeletal muscle
it is a more fixed and proximal attachment
what is the insertion of the skeletal muscle
it is a more movable and distal attachment
What is the skeletal muscle enclosed in
it is enclosed by epimysium. for smaller bundles of muscle fibers is surround by perimysium and the muscle fiber is enclose by endomysium
what is the Cardiac Muscle
involuntary and striated. it forms myocardiums that is the middle of the heart.
what Controls the movement of cardiac muscle
the ANS communications with the muscle but it spontaneously contracts with any nerve supply
What is smooth muscle
involutary and non-striated. it is arranged in 2 layers, circular and longitudinal
what controls the smooth muscle
it is innervated with ANS, regulating the size of the lumen of the a tubluar structure
what kind of waves does the smooth muscle go through
peristalitc waves
where do the peristaltic waves occur
GI tract, uterine tube, ureters and other organs
what is the cardiac conduction system made of
myocardial fibers
