Anatomy Practical Flashcards
Tissue levels from scrotum to artery/vein/nerves of testicles
Scrotum –> Dartos fascia –> external spermatic fascia –> Cremaster muscle/fascia –> Internal spermatic fascia
Pudendal nerve origin and travel
Originates S2-S4
Travels out greater sciatic notch superior to piriformis –> back through lesser sciatic notch –> Enters pudendal canal
Pudendal nerve brances
Inferior rectal nerve
Perineal nerve
Dorsal nerve of penis/clitoris
Inferior rectal nerve
Arises from pudendal nerve
Supplies sympathetic innervation to rectum inferior to pectinate line
Pain sensations associated with external hemorrhoids
Perineal nerve
Divides into superficial branch and deep branch
Superficial branch supplies innervation to posterior scrotal and labia majora
Deep branch provides innervation to muscles of perineum - ischiocavernosus, bulbospongiosum, levator ani
Pelvic splanchnic nerves
Parasympathetic nerves arising from ventral rami of S2-S4
Join in with inferior hypogastric plexus
Innervate pelvic viscera: Bladder control, rectum (above pectinate line), erection, internal urethral sphincter
Obturator artery
Arises from internal iliac artery
Exits pelvis via obturator canal
Supplies obturator internus muscle and part of thiggh
Umbilical artery
Arises from internal iliac artery
Branches into superior vesical artery
Superior vesical artery
Arises from umbilical artery and supplies upper portion of bladder
Deep dorsal vein of penis
Midline vein
Drains to prostatic venous plexus
Dorsal artery of penis
Terminal branch of pudendal artery
Dorsal nerve of penis
Branch of internal pudendal nerve
Superficial dorsal vein
Drains to superficial external pudendal vein
Ilioinguinal nerve
Anterior scrotal/labial nerve
Genitofemoral nerve
Genital branch - anterior scrotal/labial
