Anatomy of eyeball Flashcards
what are the 3 tunics
Fibrous tunic
Vascular tunic
Nervous tunic
Fibrous
Sclera and cornea
Vascular
Choroid coat Ciliary body (ciliary muscle, ciliary process)
ciliary processes: attach lens to ciliary body via ZONULAR FIBRES (zonular fibres collectively form suspensory ligament)
ciliary body therefore controls shape of lens
iris
Nervous
Retina
Muscles of iris
smooth
radiating fibers and radial fibers
dilator
CN 3
Sphincter of pupil and ciliary
Opthalmoscope
Optic Disc
Macula Lutea
Dim light
sm fibers of iris (radially arranged) move outward, pupil becomes bigger and moves towards outside
Bright light
sm fibers move inward, pupil constricts
Unequal size of eye pupil
anisocoria
Key components of eye
retina: light detecting oart, postlateral+optic part of retina (both pigmented and neural parts PRESENT)
ciliary muscles
zonules
iris
cornea
pupil
lens
choroid
fovea centralis: lots of light sensitive receptor cells
optic disc: blind spot retina, no light receptor cells
Sphincter pupillae
Parasymp nervous system
CONSTRICTION when stim.
(dilator pupillae=symp. nervous)
Accomodation
ciliary muscle contracts, circ ciliary body reduces in size, zon fibres SLACKEN, reduce tension to outside lens, lens more round=accomodation (adjust lens to near vision)
Anterior and posterior chambers
aqueous humour (nourishes)
vitreous humour (behind lens to retina)
