Biliary tract disorders present with pain in which abdominal quadrant?
Upper right
Where is McBurney’s point?
Lies between the lateral third and medial 2/3 of an imaginary line between the Umbilicus and the ant.sup. Iliac spine
What are the vertical planes that divide the abdominal cavity?
Rt & Lt vertical planes that pass the midinguinal point.
Is also midclavicular
What are the horizontal planes of the abdomen?
1) Intertubercular plane: at level L5 that crosses the 2 tubercles of iliac crest
2) Transpyloric plane: at the level of L1 passes the pylorus of the stomach
3) subcostal plane: at L3 passes costal margins
Main structures at each Horizontal plane
1) Transpyloric: Fundus of gallbladder, Sup. mesenteric A, meeting of rectus abdominus with costal margins
2) subcostal: L3, inf. Mesenteric, third part of duodenum.
3) supracristal: L4, division of aorta
4) intertubercular: beginning of IVC
What drains the Hindgut?

Explain the origins of abdominal major arteries
The celiac trunk and the superior mesenteric arise from the front of abdominal aorta at level L1
While the inferior mesenteric at level L3
What are the branches of the celiac artery?
Left gastric (smallest), splenic (largest, tortuous), Common hepatic
Branches of common hepatic
Right gastric, gastroduodenal, Rt & Lt hepatic
