1 GLIDING - flat bone surfaces - side to side - INTERCARPAL
2 ANGULAR - increase or decrease in bone angle
3 ROTATION - revolves around its own longitudinal axis
4 SPECIAL MOVEMENT
ANGULAR MOVEMENTS ARE
FLEXION - decrease angle
EXTENSION - increase angle
HYPEREXTENSION - beyond normal
ABDUCTION - away from the midline
ADDUCTION - towards the midline
CIRCUMDUCTION - in a circle
ROTATIONAL MOVEMENTS ARE
HEAD - Atlanto axial joint side to side
SHOULDER - lateral & medial
HIP - lateral & medial
11 SPECIAL MOVEMENTS ARE
1 ELEVATION - jaw upward motion
2 DEPRESSION - downward motion
3 PROTRACTION - move forward anteriorly
4 RETRACTION - move back to normal position
5 INVERSION - medial foot movement
6 EVERSION - lateral foot movement
7 DORSIFLEXION - bending the foot upwards
8 PLANTARFLEXION - bending the foot downwards
9 SUPINATION - forearm palm-up soup
10 PRONATION - forearm palm down
11 OPPOSITION - opposable thumb across the palm
