Flail Chest
3 or more fractures ribs in 2 or more places on 1 side. 3-2-1 rule.
Place bulky dressing and tape around border
Movies in opposite direction of cheat when breathing
Normal Rate Of Breathing
12-20 breaths per minute.
If breathing is under 10/min, use bag-valve mask to speed up breathing. Ventilate each inhale and between them.
If breathing is between 10-30, use non-rebreather mask.
If breathing is above 30/min, use bag-valve mask to slow down breathing. Ventilate every second inhale.
NRB: 10-15L/m
BVM: 15L/m

Abdominal- holds intestines, stomach, liver, etc
Pelvic- holds bladder, reproductive organs
Vitals

Shock
Signs and Symptoms:
- anxiety/confusion
- weakness
- nausea/vomiting
- PCC (pale, cool, clammy)
- thirsty
- rapid breathing
- tired
Blood goes to core, vessels in extremities constrict. Can cause hypoxia.
When Checking Respiration and Pulse
Look for rate, rhythm, and quality.

Peripheral:
Autonomic- sympathetic and parasympathetic
Somatic- sensory and motor
