Q

What is eccrine glands?

A
  1. Simple sweat producing glands
  2. Found over most of the body
  3. Appear as tiny tubes
  4. Responsive to heat
  5. Appear in the epidermis and have a coiled appearance
  6. Duct opens directly onto surface of skin through a pore
17
Q

What is apocrine glands?

A
  1. Found in armpit, groin and nipple area.
  2. Larger gland then eccrine gland
  3. Attached to hair follicle
  4. Controlled by hormones
  5. Increase in activity when body is excited, nervous or stressed
  6. Fluid secreted is thicker than eccrine secretion and can contain fats, sugars and proteins.
  7. Also contains traces of molecules called pheromones, which causes sexual attraction between individuals.
18
Q

Describe hair structure?

A
  1. Long, slender structure
  2. grows out of and is part of the skin
    3.
