Anatomy Flashcards
Structures passing through foramen ovale
M - mandibular nerve
A - accessory meningeal artery
L - lesser pterosal nerve
E - Emissary vein connecting cavernous sinus & pterygoid venous plexus.
Structures passing through foramen spinosum
MEN (Pneumonic)
Middle meningeal artery and vein.
Emissary vein.
Nervous spinosum.
Structure passing through Formen rotundum?
Maxillary nerve
Structures passing through optic canal
Optic nerve & opthalmic artery
Different levels of openings in the diaphragm
Openings of diaphragm: I8 10eggs At12 (pneumonic)
Venacaval opening: In central tendon at T8
structures passing through: IVC, Right phrenic nerve
Oesophageal opening: In muscular part at T10
structures passing thorugh: Oesophagus, Right & left vagus nerve, oesophageal branch of left gastric artery
Aortic opening: Between the crus of diaphragm at T12
Structures passing through: Aorta , Azygous & hemiazygous vein, Thoracic duct.
Note: Left phrenic nerve directly pierces the diaphragm
Unpaired sinuses
Unpaired sinuses : (mnemonic: SIS-BPO)
1 Superior sagittal sinus.
2. Inferior sagittal sinus.
3. Straight sinus,
4. Occipital sinus.
5. a Posterior intercavernous sinus.
b. Anterior intercavernous sinus.
6. Basilar venous plexus.
Superior Sagittal sinus continues as
Right transverse sinus
Inferior transverse sinus continues as
Inferior sagittal sinus continues as Straight sinus
Straight sinus receives Galons vein (great cerebral vein of galon)
After receiving galons vein it continues as left transverse sinus
Right & left transverse sinus continues as
Sigmoid sinus which continues as IJV
Basilar venous plexus formed by
Cavernous sinus
Inferior petrosal sinus
Posterior inter cavernous sinus
