Q

Discuss the lateral walls within the nasal cavity

A

Contains ridges known as turbinates or conchae which aid in draining and ventilating the paranasal sinuses.
And the meatuses which allows air to flow.

Q

How does the olfactory nerve work?

A

Stimulates olfactory receptors with odor molecules such as odorant molecules binding to an olfactory receptor or neurone which creates an ion channel that opens and activates sensory cells. This depolarises the neuron and generates an action potential that travels through the olfactory tract to the olfactory bulb and then to the olfactory cortex.
