18
Q

ASIS

A

Situated at anterior end of iliac crest

19
Q

PSIS

A

Trace backwards along crest, (in ladies found in dimples, in men small raised tubercles)

20
Q

greater trochanter

A

Run hands down from middle of crest
7-10cm or bring fingers forward from hollows in sides of buttocks

21
Q

ischial tuberosity

A

In sitting, the body rests on these and can be felt underneath this area

22
Q

pubic tubercle

A

About 5cm above genitalia, bony ring can be felt. Pubic tubercles are about 1cm above and lateral to pubic symphysis. - Get patient to do it themselves.

23
Q

joint line of the hip

A

Palpate the anterior superior iliac spine and the pubic tubercle find the midpoint of this line the hip joint is approximately 1.5 cm below it, inferiorly (can’t be directly palpated as deep)

24
Q
A
25
Q

femoral triangle

A

With the hip flexed in abduction and lateral rotation i.e. with the heel of the leg resting on the opposite knee, palpate the borders of the femoral triangle
- inguinal ligament superiorly
- the Adductor Longus medially
- Sartorius laterally
- The floor of the triangle is formed by portions of the Adductor Longus muscle, the Pectineus, and lliopsoas muscles.

26
Q

femoral artery

A

it passes just inferior to the inguinal ligament. Take the pulse and compare with the radial pulse,
(femoral nerve lies lateral to the artery, vein medial

lateral - medial = Nerve, Artery, Vein, Y-Fronts - NAVY).
