Brachial plexus pathology
A
Formed in the posterior triangle of the neck
Contains fibres from C5 - T1
Motor, sensory, and SNS (T1) neurones included
Erb’s palsy (C5/6)
- Sensory loss - lateral aspect, upper arm
- Motor loss - loss of shoulder abduction (deltoid), loss of forearm flexion (biceps, brachialis, coracobrachialis)
- Passive pronation of arm
Klumpke’s palsy (C8/T1)
- Atrophy of forearm
- Clawed hand
- Horner’s syndrome
