Anatomy Flashcards
Slow ATPase activity
Large oxidative capacity - with large numbers of mitochondrial
Red color, small diameter
Type 1 Muscle Fibers
Fast oxidative glycolytic fibers
Fast ATPase activity
High glycolytic capacity
Moderate oxidative capacity
Fast fibers, resistant to fatigue
Red in color, large in diameter
Type IIa Fibers
Fast oxidative glycolytic fibers
Fast ATPase activity
High glycolytic capacity
Low oxidative capacity
Fast fibers, fatigable
Pale color, Large diameter
Type IIb Fibers
Pain from the buttock down posterior thigh
Weakness in plantarflexion + toe flexion
Ankle reflex reduced/absent
S1 Radiculopathy
Proximal weakness
Atrophy of Type II Fibers
Steroid-induced Myopathy
Hypotonia + Weakness at birth/early childhood
Oculomotor Deficits: Ptosis, Ocular Palsies
Weakness of facial, pharyngeal, laryngeal neck muscles
Respiratory failure can occur in the first few months of life
Needle EMG: Myopathic pattern with positive waves and fibrilations
Path:
Centronuclear Myopathy
