Describe the way of duct of the submandibular glands
forwards and slightly upwards first between mylohyoid and hyoglossus and then between the subligual gland and geniglossus
the submandibular duct (wharton) is 5cm long emerage from:
from the medial surface of the superficial part of the gland near to posterior border of mylohyoid
the submandibular duct (wharton) is 5cm long emerage from:
from the medial surface of the superficial part of the gland near to posterior border of mylohyoid
submandibular triangle located between
- the inferior border of the mandible
- anterior and posterior bellies of digastric muscle
the floor of the submandibular triangle formed by
the mylohyoid
- hyoglossus muscles
- the middle constrictor muscle of the pharynx
submandibular lymph nodes
lie on each sides of the submandibular gland
along the inferior border of the mandible
another compartment located in the submandibular triangle
the hypoglossal nerve
the mylohyoid muscle nerve (a branch of CN V3 which also supplies the anterior bellay of the digastric )
parts of the facial artery and veins
submental artery (a branch of the facial artery)
submandibular gland secrations
mixed mucous and serous in type
submandibular gland consists of two part are :
larg superficial part
small deep part
parts of the submandibular gland are continuous with
one another round the free posterior margin of mylohyoid
the superficial part has three surface :
lateral
suprtficial(inferior)
medial
the lateral surface of the superficial part of sub mandibular gland relations are :
the submandibular fossa of thr mandible
the medial pterygoid insertion
the facial artery
the inferior surface of the superficial part of the submandibular gland is covered by
skin
platysma
the investing facia
the inferior surface of the submandibular gland crossed by
facial vein
the cervical and marginal branch of the facial nerve
the medial surface boundaries are :
the mylohyoid hyoglossus lingual nerve hypoglossal nerve accompanying veins
