ANATOMICAL POSITION
The human body is erect, with the feet only slightly apart, head and toes pointed forward, and arms hanging at the sides with palms facing forward. It is also important to remember that “left” and “right” refer to the sides of the individual, not the observer.
AXIAL
The axial region includes the head, neck, and trunk; it runs along the vertical axis of the body.
APPENDICULAR
The appendicular region includes the limbs, which are also called the appendages or extremities.
ABDOMINAL
Located below the ribs and above the hips.
