Sagittal Plane
This is the plane that passes through the anterior and posterior sides diving the body into right and left left halves.
Frontal plane
Also known as the coronal plane. This is showing the body view from the front or back where you can section off by cutting through the coronal suture.
Transverse Plane
Plane that horizontally passes through the body. Dividing the body into superior and inferior portions
Anterior
The front of the body
Posterior
The back of the body
Medial
Closer to the midline of the body
Lateral
Away from the midline of the body
Proximal
Situated nearer to the center of the body or to a point of attachment. Usually expressed when dealing with appendages.
Distal
Further away from the center of the body or point of attachment. usually involving appendages.
