Anatomical Organisation Of The Respiratory System Flashcards
1
Q
Overview of the structure of the full respiratory system?
A
- sinuses, pharynx, larynx, trachea
- bronchial tube
- lungs and alveoli
- bronchi and bronchioles
- bronchial tune leading to the alveoli
2
Q
The structure of the bronchial tree?
A
- Primary, secondary and tertiary bronchus (surrounded by cartilage)
- bronchiole covered by smooth muscle
- becomes terminal bronchiole
- leading to the respiratory zone (alveoli)
(C-shapes cartilage, stops collapsing/bronchioles lose cartilage and have SM for expansion/ alveoli increases SA)
3
Q
The structure/surroundings of the alveoli?
A
- Alveolus surrounded by the alveolar capillary barrier
- in contact with squamous epithelial cells
- this then surrounded by (capillary and epithelial) basement membrane
4
Q
The structure of the bronchial tube?
A
Out to in:
- smooth muscles
- blood vessels
- mucous lining
- lumen
