What is the importance of summaries?

A
  1. Prepares the reader - Helps the reader to identify the main ideas of a text source
  2. Key points - Helps the reader to locate key points in an extract
  3. Description - Allows the reader to describe what they have read without any evaluation or analysis

How can we write a good summary?

A
  1. Only write the most important points as they’re the main idea
  2. Do not judge or add your own opinion
  3. Keep it brief, short, to the point, and don’t repeat the ideas
  4. Make sure it flows by using sentence connectors and transition words
