Analysis of Data Flashcards
How to find outliers?
Q1-1.5xIQR
Q3+1.5xIQR
What is qualitative data
Data that cannot be counted (eg colour)
What is quantative data
Data from which can be counted or measured (eg. Height)
What can quantitive data be split into
Discrete and continuous
What is discrete data
Data with a limited number of countable values
What is continuous data
Data measured on scale and can take any value along that scale.
What is a sampling frame
Used to identify population - list which contains all items in population that have chance of being sampled
What is random sampling
Random numbers generated - equal chance of being sampled. Must have sampling frame. Free from bias
Stratified sampling what is it
Samples chosen in ratio to the population (eg age or gender) more accurate than random.
Needs sampling frame
Cluster sampling what is it
Population divided into groups. Only certain groups sampled. Could be bias, doesn’t need sampling frame.
What is quota sampling
Surveyor picks who they want to survey. Not random and has bias.
Where do you plot for cumulative frequency
End of each grouping
Frequency density =
F/CW
