It is where a spot of dye is put on paper and then the solvent moves through the paper the colours move different distances based on solubility

Fast, rapid and accurate
How does gas chromatography and mass spectrometers work?
Where the sample is carried through a column full of solid particles, the different compounds travel at different speeds so come out at different times, their retention times can be compared with results for known compounds and the mass spectrometer gives the relative molecular mass
What is the individual compound with the largest mass on a mass spectrometer?
An ion with only 1 electron removed, it is furthest to the right on the graph and called the molecular ion peak
