What is prejudice?
A judgement on somebody before meeting them
What is an imperative verb?
Gives orders, commands and instructions
{come, give, bring}
What is a progressive/continuous verb?
Describes ongoing actions in the present past or future -incomplete actions -still going on -ends in ing {working, going, helping}
What is a modal verb?
Shows if we believe something is certain, possible or probable (or not)
-cannot exist in a sentence without another verb
{should, could, might, would, can, may, shall, will}
What is a common noun?
Any noun that isn’t a proper noun
{table, chair, door, spoon}
What is a proper noun?
A name of a person, place, country, organisation with a capital letter
{SJB, Zero, Scotland, London}
What is an abstract noun?
A noun that you cannot touch, hear, see, smell or taste
{joy, terror, despair}
What is a collective noun?
A noun for a group of things
{swarm, gaggle, flock, herd}
What is a countable noun?
A noun that does have a plural form, that you can count
{apples, bananas, tables, chairs}
What is an uncountable noun?
A noun that does not exist in the plural form
{food, furniture, water, concrete}
