strong state control and cult of personality. Very nationalistic and military, valued strength and glory. Honor and resources. Cooperation with hitler - Anti semitism

Militarist, fanatically nationalist. Conflicted with civillian authority. there was much conflict and changing of leaders within the army due to the factional struggles between the Kodu Ha and the Tosei Ha. Japan became a constitutional monarchy under Emperor Hirohito.

Constitutional Dictatorships: Traditional elites maintained, do not completely remove the opposition
Authoritarian dictatorships: Presidential dictatorship, defensive in foreign policy, territorial consolidation of power.
Totalitarian dictatorship: Most extreme form, aimed to create a new form of society based on ideology thinking, charismatic leader.
