he really means that Eva Smith isn’t alone in her experience in being exploited by the upper class. Priestley draws attention to many unspoken injustices that take place in society among the working class. repetition of ‘millions’ emphasises/makes Birlings the magnitude of the problem, not that there is one isolated case of maltreatment. metonymy of “Eva Smiths and John Smiths” shows the universal extent of suffering
