AMT 115 REVIEWER Flashcards
are used to outline the edges of taxiways during periods of darkness or restricted visibility conditions. These fixtures emit blue light
Taxiway Edge Lights
Identifies the end of a runway. It means that behind these lights, there is no place to continue aircraft movement. are unidirectional red color aviation lights. The lights marking the ends of the runway emit red light toward the runway to indicate the end of runway to a deporting aircraft and emit green outward from the runway end to indicate the threshold to landing aircraft.
Runway End Lights/ Threshold Lights
also known as an IATA location identifier, IATA station code, or simply a location identifier, is a three-letter geocode designating many airports and metropolitan areas around the world, defined by the international Air Transport Association (IATA). The Characters prominently displayed on baggage tags attached at airport check -in desks are an example of a way these codes are used.
IATA Airport Codes
are used to facilitate ground traffic under low visibility conditions. They are located along the taxiway centerline in a straight line on straight portions, on the centerline of curved portions, and along designated taxing paths in portions of runways, ramp, and apron areas. Are steady in burning and emit green light.
Taxiway Centerline Lights
NYC
New York City
it provides visual guidance to persons entering the runway. These β____-onβ lights are also color-coded with the same color pattern as ____ lights to warn pilots and vehicle drivers that they are within the runway environment or instrument landing system (ILS) critical area, whichever is more conservative yellow-green lights.
Taxiway Lead-On/ Lead- Off Lights
installed at many airports to provide rapid and positive identification of the approach end of a particular runway. The system consists of a pair of synchronized flashing lights located laterally on each side of the runway threshold.
Runway End Identifier Lights
JFK
John F. Kennedy
are installed at holding positions on taxiways in order to increase the conspicuity of the holding position in low visibility conditions. They may also be installed to indicate the location of an interesting taxiway during periods of darkness. it consist of three-in-pavement steady-burning yellow lights
Clearance Bar Lights
Are white, except on instrument runways yellows replaces white on the last 2,000 feet or half the runway length, whichever is less, to form a caution zone for landings.
Runway Edge Lights
DXB
Dubai
are installed at taxiway/runway intersections during low visibility conditions, but may be used in all weather conditions. consist of either a pair of elevated flashing yellow lights installed on either side of the taxiway, or a row of in-pavement yellow lights installed across the entire taxiway, at the runway holding position marking.
Runway Guard Lights
Known as location indicator is a for letter code designating aerodromes around the world. These codes, as defined by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and published in ICAO Document 7910: Location Indicators, are used by air traffic control and airline operations such as flight planning
ICAO Airport Codes
are installed on some precision approach runways to facilitate landing under adverse visibility conditions. They are located along the runway centerline and are spaced at 50-foot intervals, when viewed from the landing threshold, the runway ____ lights are white until the last 3,000 feet of the runway. The white lights begin to alternate with red for the next 2,000 feet, and for the last 1,000 feet of the runway, all centerline lights are red.
Runway Centerline Lights
When installed, they are used to confirm the ATC clearance to enter or cross the active runway in low visibility conditions. A ___ bar consists of a row of red, unidirectional, steady-burning in-pavement lights installed across the entire taxiway at the runway holding position, and elevated steady-burning red lights on each side.
Runway Stop Bar Lights
