Uses: Mood elevation, reduce fatigue, reduce appetite
**Mechanism: Causes norepinephrine and dopamine release
Side-effects: Increased BP, rapid irregular heart beat, repeated involuntary movements, psychosis
Medical uses: Treat narcolepsy, ADHD, reduce appetite
Tolerance: very great
*Cross tolerance: To similar drugs but not cocaine
Addiction: highest and quick
Dependence: little
Cocaine

Uses:
Mechanism: In CNS nicotinic receptors on cells that release glutamate
Poisoning: Gneralized CNS excitation, emesis, tremor, respiratory/cardiovascular stimulation and convulsion then coma
Tolerance: some functional tolerance
Addiction: very great
Dependence: little
Bupropion
Sustained release (Zyban), antidepressant
(online it says mechanism is not known but relatively weak inhibitor of neuronal reuptake of norepinepherine and dopamine, but does NOT inhibit reuptake of seratonin….it says it can treat depression and help people quit smoking)
