Some colonists still wanted to peacefully settle the conflict and sent King George 3 a petition declaring their loyalty and asking him to repeal the intolerable Acts, and blame the parliament for the recent problems. King George rejects it

Ticonderoga

Valley FOrge
George Washington camped his troops there the VERY COLD winter of 1777-1778. There was much suffering.
Trenton
the battle of Trenton- George Washington secretly crosses the Delaware River and launches surprise attack. The Hessians, guarding Trenton, were defeated by the Continental Army.
Yorktown
Cornwallis is trapped and retreats onto the Yorktown Peninsula. G Washington marches his troops to the peninsula. The French fleet blocks the peninsula in the Chesapeake Bay and COrnwallis is cut off. This is the last battle in the Revolutionary War.
Saratoga
Victory at Saratoga- Brigadier General Burgoyne surrounded at Saratoga and he surrenders. The turning point of the war was here and it ended British threat to New England.
