The ‘roaring twenties’, was a time of economic growth in America, driven by the post war recovery,

This was a term that defined a migrant that moved from one part of America (which originated from Oklahoma) to another, to find work, to survive. It was a negative term used by farmers and other people who were higher than them in society e.g, police officers.

A hooverville is a slum like camp, which is where the poor migrants took refuge. With tents and shacks, that’s why it was a depressing and unpleasant place to live. It originated from the past president- Henry Hoover, also known as the ‘Do nothing President’, as he literally did nothing to benefit America and ultimately, ended up in one of these camps, selling apples

Ellis Island was a federally owned island in New York, and acted as an immigrant checkpoint, for people trying to get into America from other places.
