What is 5A and 14 A due process?
Persons are entitled due process of law when government seeks to deprive them of “life, liberty, or property”
what stops the US gov’t from messing with you?
Bill of Rights, Article I, Section 9 (no ex post facto laws, no suspension of writ of habeas corpus, restricts slave trade, limits direct taxes, export clauses, etc.)
What stops other states from messing with you?
state laws, and Article IV protections and immunities (protects against discrimination of fundamental rights of state citizenship
what stops your state from messing with you??
Article I section 10 ( limits the powers of state governments, preventing them from engaging in certain activities that are either prohibited or require congressional consent.)
14th amendment
every natural born person is a citizen, protects P&I, due process, equal protection, and enforcement power to legislate
15A §1+2
The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the
United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. Section 2:
The Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
14A § 1 & 5
Section 1: No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities
of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property,
without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the
laws. Section 5: Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation
