3
Q

Why are dentine pins not used any more (5)

A
  • Increased risk of pulpal or periodontal perforations
  • Increases risk of crazing and cracking- (often the pin is wider than the pin channel causing fine cracks)
  • Amalgam pins can create the same resistance retention form
  • Need to ensure at least 2mm of amalgam to cover the pin
  • Dentine pins weaken the amalgam

16
Q

Name dentine adhesive when placing amalgam

A

4 (3stage) ,5th gen (two stage )
Resilute, panavia, amalgabond resinomer or gic cement

17
Q

What is the difference between the dentine sealer and dentine adhesive

A

The sealer cleans the dentine and provides resin tags for the dentine adhesive to bond on to

18
Q

Properties of a dentine adhesive when placing amalgam

A

4meta (bonds to resin on one side and amalgam on the other side)
Chemically cured
(Gic cement can be used and is cheaper than 4meta )

19
Q

What’s does Burnishing an amalgam achieve

A

Removes voids
Removes Mercury rich layer
Reduces chipping

20
Q

Amalgam can be polishing using

A

Brownies and greenness and ZnO powder

21
Q

Name two types of amalgam

A

Lathe cut more challenging to pack crumbly
Spherical cut

22
Q

Name a dentine adhesive

A

4meta
4,5 gen
Panavia , amalgabond resilite
