Q

Describe the path for Alzheimers?

A
  • loss of Ach and other NT’s = decline in memory, attention, and loss of other cognitive function
  • development of insoluble amyloid (a neurotoxic protein) accumulates in plaques in the brain and brain vasculature leading to antipathy (disease of blood vessels)
  • group of axons clump around amyloid -> degeneration -> disrupt nerve transmission
