a neurodegenerative disease characterised by the gradual widespread degeneration of brain neurons (beginning in the hippocampus), progressively causing memory decline, deterioration of cognitive and social skills and personality changes
aphantasia
a phenomenon in which individuals lack the capacity to generate mental imagery
amyloid plaques
protein buildup on the axon terminals which block chemical neurotransmission
neurofibrillary tangles
protein buildup within the axon which block electrical transmission
alzheimers - ABM
impairs ability to retrieve autobiographical events and construct possible imagined futures
aphantasia - ABM
reduces the richness and detail of autobiographical events and possible imagined futures
Autobiographical memory
comprises of semantic and episodic memory
