Altimetry Flashcards
1
Q
What is a standard day?
A
1) 29.92 inHg (1013.25 hPa) at sea level
2) 15C at sea level
3) Temp decrease at -1.98C per 1000ft
2
Q
What is QNE?
A
Atmospheric pressure (or isobar) of a standard day at sea level; 29.92 inHg
3
Q
What is QFE?
A
Atmospheric pressure at a set point, like an aerodrome. When set to QFE, altimeter will read the height above set point.
Can be remembered as “Query: Field Elevation”
4
Q
What is QFF?
A
Mean sea level pressure derived from actual conditions.
For meteorologists.
(Produces an altimeter with no error when at mean sea level)
5
Q
What is QNH?
A
Actual atmospheric pressure at sea level.
When set to QNH, altimeter will read altitude.
Can be remembered as “Query: Nautical Height”
