Substance, usually a protein which causes an allergic reaction in an individual

What does all pre packed food require
Food labeling that displays mandatory information
How is allergen labelling different
When labeling an allergen it is either in bold, or using contrasting colours
When should precautionary labels be used
When risk assessment has been done and there is a risk of cross contamination of allergen
Rules for loose food
Allergen info should be available by speaking to staff or in a book
Info has to be easily accessible
Info has to be accurate, consistent and verifiable
What are food alerts
Its a system to alert the public and food authorities to make them aware of incorrectly labelled foods and foods containing allergens
