Allergen vaccines
A
Formulated with allergens to reduce symptoms/hypersensitivity in exposed individuals

Types of vacccines
A
House dust mite, cat/dog dander, grass or tree pollen extracts = reduce allergic asthma symptoms + allergic rhinoconjuctivis
Wasp/bee vecom = reduce the risk of severe anaphylaxis and systemic reactions in individuals with hypersensitivity to wasp and bee stings.

Oral preparations
A
Oral preparations of grass pollen extract is available + house dust mite are available.
1st dose given under medical supervision for 20-30 mins.

Desensitising vaccines
A
- Desensitisation with peanut protein.
- Offered to patients with peanut allergy in childhood and continued into adulthood.
- Safety concerns = hypersensitivity reaction = life-threatening bronchospasm + anaphylaxis
- Specialist use
- Monitor for 1 hour
- CPR available

- Asthma (or use with extra caution)
- Pregnant women
- Children under 5
- Beta blockers
- ACEi
