When using greetings, is aller typically used?
Yes. I may make more sense to directly translate with être, but this is incorrect.
How is aller used with the names of cities?
It is used with the preposition à before the name of a city or the name of a noun indicating a place. It means “I’m going to”. There is no article before the names of cities
I am going to Montreal
Je vais à Montréal
She is going to the library
Elle va à la bibliothèque
How is aller used with chez?
It is used with the preposition “chez” before a proper noun or a noun delegating a person/ persons. Do not include à before chez

How is aller used with the names of countries?
An article must be used before countries (but not cities). When countries start with a consonant, use ‘au’. When countries are feminine (end in -e) or start with a vowel, use ‘en’
