all mistakes (*mistakes) Flashcards
*A recessive disorder affecting the mucus lining of the lungs, leading to breathing problems and other difficulties
CYSTIC FIBROSIS
The major organ associated with the human respiratory system.
LUNGS
Passageway that leads to trachea.
PHARYNX
This gas is a waste product that is removed by the respiratory system.
CARBON DIOXIDE
These branches lead to the lungs.
BRONCHI
Moistens, & filters air as it is inhaled.
NASAL CAVITY
These small branches lead to the air sacs.
BRONCHIOLES
This gas is inhaled through the nostrils and is used during cellular respiration.
OXYGEN
Labored breathing caused by narrowing of the air passages (past the bronchi) in the lungs, associated with shortness of breath, wheezing, and coughing. Asthma is usually induced by an allergic reaction or environmental factor.
ASTHMA
Lined with cilia, which filters the air before it reaches the lungs.
TRACHEA (KEY PHRASE: BEFORE IT REACHES THE LUNGS)
*Involves over-distention and destruction of the air spaces in the lungs.
EMPHYSEMA
This is where oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged. O enters the blood; CO₂ is removed from the blood.
