Erroneous AFDS Guidance when ILS interference:

A
  • Incorrect Pitch when GS capture and there is interference
  • AC may pitch up suddenly if on false GS
  • AP will:
    • Change to Attitude Stabilising mode based on attitude at time of interference
      • This could result in low pitch attitude and High ROD if interference occurred at caputre
    • No pilot indication for _ Then:
      • > 200’ RA
        • GS stabilised mode 15 sec
        • Loc Stabilised mode 20 sec
      • <200’ RA
        • GS & Loc stabilised mode 4 sec
    • AUTOPILOT Msg
    • FD Bars Removed
    • Amber line through Mode
  • If you disconnect AP All modes and FD return but:
    • Guidance is still in Stabilised Mode and will not capture GS/LOC without intervention
    • This can lead to High ROD and unstable
    • Go Around or Continue Visually
  • LAND 2/3 do not indicate ILS tracking only landing capability
  • Cross Check Raw data
  • Go Around if unstable

LNAV Path deviation from published procedure

A
  • SID with waypoints close together than 10nm and/or turns is more than 120 deg (eg downwind leg) and large speed change between legs FMC will calc a smooth turn and not follow published path.
    • If ATC gives unrestricted climb and you delete alt restrictions FMC will recalc LNAV path based on new speeds and crossing alt.
    • It can also occur due to design on SID with no input
  • Can occur on STAR
  • Procedure:
    • Preflight if close waypoints and 120 deg turn ND shows wrong path
      • Enter a lower climb speed in VNAV CLB Page or a waypoint speed constraint in LEGS
      • At High Weights delay flap retraction

Decent and Go Round Procedure Changes

A
  • Flight Crew awareness of thrust during a go round
  • TOGA System
    • TOGA is inhibited near and on the ground.
    • If TOGA is pushed no thrust lever movement
  • Pilot Actions
    • Brief Thrust in Descent Briefing
    • Push TOGA
    • Manually Increase Thrust
    • PM to Verify Thrust and manually correct if required

Anomalous Takeoff Stab Trim Behaviour

A

Stab Trim changes outside Green Band or Blanks
Results in Config warning at TO
- At low Weight (240T) use assumed temp with TO2 only or don’t use assumed temp
- Before Departure verify Stab Trim is correct and in the Green Band
- If Trim has change/No Green Band/Outside Band. Delete CG and re-enter and set trim

Lower Than Expected VNAV Target Speed

A

Caused by speed constraint in an approach or Hold being being applied to ac in current position
- Legs and Commanded speed will be incorrect speed but VNAV page will have correct speed
- Can occur after TO
- Insufficient fuel may occur
- When selecting an Approach or Inserting Hold Speed when an approach is already selected
Before Exe confirm there are not Legs Speed changes
If there are:
- Note and delete hold speed for all holds
- Note and delete all missed approach speed constrains
- Re enter missed approach speed constrains
- Exe
-Use Speed Intervention to fly hold
If Already EXE
- Speed intervention
- Do above steps

Offset Route does Not Parallel Original

A

Offset diverges from Original Route if an approach has been loaded.
LNAV follows wrong route
FMC modifications can result in Dual FMC reset

Before EXE check the route
If Offset not parallel:
- Erase
- Route Page and Delete the approach and EXE
- Select Offset, check and Execute
- Enter Approach

If Already EXE:
- Route Page and delete Approach and EXE
- Enter Perf Data
- Enter Offset, check and exe
- Reenter Approach

- Verify Route Data on Legs
- Activate and Exe
- Enter Perf Data and Exe

A

THR REF to VNAV SPD/PATH as low as 400’AGL and level off
Caused by Data from last flight and only affects uplinked routes
- Cycle Nav Database during FMC Setup
- If occurs use another mode like FLCH / TOGA

Actions:

- Move FMC selector to other position

- Reengage AT

- Reengage AT
- Logon

If Flight Info Missing
- Route page, change Flight number then change back again

If Tail no missing
- Re enter tail no
- If not accepted switch FMC as above
- If not accepted again, load route 2 as above
