It is a white light located by the window of all airbus doors. It will illuminate if an armed door is pushed 3 degrees in armed mode. It will have a loud buzzer noise on the A350 only.

How do you ARM an A330 door?
- Lift cover over mode selector lever
- Remove and stow locking pin BEHIND gust lock and make sure red ribbon is TUCKED away. (A339- under crew seat)
- Push mode selector forward to armed
- Close cover
- Cross check opposite door
How do you DISARM an A330 door?
- Lift cover
- Push mode selector fully aft to disarmed
- Insert locking pin and ensure red ribbon is TRAILING
- Close cover
- Cross check
How do you ARM an A350 door?
- Slide cover over mode selector
- Remove and stow locking pin under crew seat
- Push mode selector fully forward to ARMED
- Close cover
- Cross check
How do you DISARM an A350 door
- Slide cover over mode selector
- Push mode selector fully aft to disarmed
- Insert locking pin ensuring red ribbon is stowed behind cover

What does the CDSS assist in?
- Confirming the identity of the person requesting access to the flight deck
- Verifying if any potential intruders are outside the door when exiting
What should be done before requesting access to the flight deck?
- Ensure no potential intruders are outside the door.
- A330 only: Make sure passengers queuing for the toilet are queuing in the left aisle of Galley 1
How do you request access to the flight deck?
- Enter normal access code
- Look at camera
- Wait for green light
- Open door within 5 seconds
- Once inside close door immediately
What will happen if access is denied to the flight deck?
Red light will remain on key pad for 15 minutes. Door remains unlocked unless overridden by flight crew.
How should we exit the flight deck?
- Check spy hole and monitor screen for unauthorised people outside of flight deck door
- If there are passengers outside the door flight crew should call Galley 1 requesting they are moved
- Turn the internal handle, pull door open, close immediately BUT QUIETLY
If the CDSS is broken what do we need to do?
- interphone to flight deck verbally requesting access
- if only 2 pilots, one person needs sit in flight deck to verify any request from pushback to TOC and from TOD until parking at gate
- A crew member must remain in Galley 1 throughout the flight to monitor the flight deck door
What will happen to the decompression and evacuation panel in a rapid decompression?
It will open automatically
What is an additional feature to the decompression and evacuation panel on the A350?
It is installed with 2x Decompression Deceleration Devices (DDD) to slow door movement in a rapid decompression
How do you open the decompression and evacuation panel?
- Rotate shield to the left to reveal the handle
- Pinch, push, and rotate the handle until the green locking indicator turns red
- Kick hatch into Cabin
Where are the sliding windows on the A330?
Either side of the flight deck
How are the flight deck sliding windows opened?
- Press handle down rotate aft (red locking indicator appears)
- Slide window aft into locked open position
How are the flight deck windows closed?
- Slide locking lever in window tract aft
- Slide window forward and rotate handle forward to lock (red indicator disappears)
How is the ceiling panel removed from the escape hatch in the flight deck on the A350?
- Insert hand into recess
- Grab release handle
- Pull down handle
- Move hatch handle to open position until locking indicator goes red
- Pull hatch inward and downward
- A damper slows down the hatch during opening
- A knotted rope is stowed next to hatch for evacuation
- Evacuation is possible on both sides of aircraft

Only 2 will drop initially- when those 2 masks are grabbed the rest of the masks are released from their foil stowage
How are oxygen masks dropped on an A330?
All at the same time
On an airbus what could happen to the oxygen generator?
It can heat up and produce a burning smell
If oxygen masks do not drop automatically what should we do?
Use a sharp object and push it into the hole in the PSU
